The Hank Williams International Fan Club is a group of wonderful people dedicated to the memory of Hank Williams Sr. If you are not familiar with Hank Wiiliams, his music has had a profound influence on not only the current country music scene, but the current music scene in general. Hank's music has provided the foundation for most of current rock and roll and country music and incorporated a basic understanding of the elements of everyday life in plain language. Hank was a rebel in his time, and while his death was untimely, has left an indelible mark on the music world that is unsurpassed to this day. Many current groups have covered Hank's tunes, so keep your eyes and minds open, as Hank Williams songs are a part of your everyday life and you probably don't even realize it. His influence is extremely far reaching, and it is the goal of the HANK WILLIAMS INTERNATIONAL FAN CLUB to keep his memory alive.
Membership is $20.00 per year, and you'll receive newsletters about upcoming events and be able to purchase merchandise that will help keep Hank's Memory alive. The Fan Club in Georgiana, Alabama, across the street from Hank's childhood home and museum provides an intimate look into the life and times of Hank Williams and is run by a truly wonderful group of folks that welcome visitors and extend their true southern hospitality. President John Wise, and all of the Board of Directors are truly passionate about Hank's memory and music, and would welcome your membership to ensure that a true musical legend is not forgotten. Please visit the site and be sure to contact the members and support the cause. As a member of the Water Gap Band, I have had the opportunity to spend a weekend with the Fan Club, and have forged friendships with some terrific people along with a few country legends, and have been afforded the opportunity to perform with the house band (Slim Pickins Band) on the big stage supporting them on rhythm guitar, and backing some of the other acts at the annual October Fest at Hank Wiliiams Park. I am truly honored and thankful for the experience.
This is a truly worthy cause and your membership would be greatly appreciated. Please visit the site by clicking on the link above and show your support. Also, please visit the Hank Williams Museum on Commerce Street in Montgomery if you are in the area and show your support.
The annual Hank Williams Festival in Georgiana will be held this year during the third weekend in May. Please check the Fan Club website for updated information.
Sincerely,
David Emmons
